Chapel Mead is a stunning and spacious property with breathtaking views and a south-westerly aspect. Only a handful of houses in Cornwall can offer such spectacular views of both the sea and Fowey River. The house itself is spacious and well appointed and all the main rooms have been carefully designed to maximise the enjoyment of this special location. It is bright and airy due to its large windows and, whilst it is in the village, it maintains a sense of peace and seclusion. Downstairs the concertina doors open onto a wide covered veranda which leads onto the large garden and the uninterrupted views out to sea.

Upstairs are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shower room. The Master bedroom (21' x 13') has dual aspect views of both the sea and the harbour. There is a King size double bed, armchairs and an en-suite bathroom with toilet, washbasin and a roll-top bath with sea views. A second large bedroom has sea views, a king size bed, en-suite shower room and French doors opening onto a lovely balcony with views of the water. The third bedroom has harbour views and a king size bed. The fourth bedroom has a small double bed arranged as the bottom bunk with a single bunk above and it provides good views over the harbour. These two bedrooms are served by a family bathroom with bath, toilet and washbasin.

Downstairs is the fifth bedroom with two single beds. On this floor there is also a shower room with toilet and washbasin. The very large kitchen is well equipped and has lovely views over the mouth of the river. There is a large extending oak table, a Belfast sink, a large gas range cooker with twin ovens, a dishwasher and microwave and doors which lead into the garden. Off the kitchen is a generous pantry with ample storage space, a high chair and a large fridge-freezer. The rest of the downstairs living space includes a drawing room (22' x 13') with a range of comfortable seating, large flat screen television, DVD and French doors giving views out to sea. There is another dual aspect sitting room (22' x 17') which has a large wood-burning stove, stereo and a beautiful oak spiral staircase leading upstairs to the landing which has seating overlooking the garden and the sea. Both living rooms have wide concertina doors that give immediate access to the veranda.

Outside the veranda provides a wide covered area and benefits from a south westerly aspect from which to admire the view and the late afternoon sun making it ideal for drinks and al-fresco dining. The garden is mainly laid to lawn with a variety of sitting areas and both wooden and stone benches overlooking the sea. A number of steps lead up from the garden to the ample parking area with room for four cars. Visitors who find steps a challenge, can be dropped by car in West Street and can enter the property via the front garden which has around half a dozen steps.

Just a ferry ride away is the sailing town of Fowey famous for its yearly Regatta. This is Daphne du Maurier country and the acclaimed Fowey festival attracts many to its talks, walks, plays and poetry. There are beautiful walks (the Hall Walk is one of the most spectacular in the country) and beaches at Readymoney Cove, Lantic Bay and Polkerris. Nearby is the Eden project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and picturesque fishing villages like Polperro and Looe.

There is under-floor oil-fired central heating in the kitchen and electric radiators throughout; a washing machine is in the store (which also houses the boiler and serves as a drying room with kitchen maid clothes dryers). The cost of electricity, oil and gas is included in the rent and all bed linen is provided. A travel cot and high chair are available if required.

Wireless broadband connection is available for people who bring their own laptops. A landline phone is also available using an honesty box.

Chapel Mead is a superb property which brings us back year after year. It cannot be beaten for location. The house is comfortable with thoughtful touches provided by the family who own it, making the holiday feel like a real home from home. Really comfortable beds, excellent showers, within walking distance of everything, including the most beautiful coastal walks and the restaurants, shops and coffee shops in Fowey. We have been home for a week and I am already missing Polruan, Fowey and Chapel Mead. Can't wait to get back.Mrs H Nagle - 26th September 2015
